When you’re ready to start treatment, waiting days or weeks for an intake appointment can derail recovery before it begins.
At Shanti Recovery & Wellness, our same-day IOP intake means you complete your initial screening, clinical assessment, insurance verification, and first session within the same calendar day. No waitlists. No drawn-out admissions process.
Our programs currently accept Medi-Cal and many major insurance providers, so please read on to learn more, or reach out directly via confidential call at any time for immediate support.
Across California, average wait times for non-urgent outpatient mental health services sit at 6.7 business days for adults and 8.5 days for youth, with some counties stretching past 10 days.
For someone struggling with substance abuse or acute mental health challenges, that gap between calling for help and receiving it is where relapse, crisis escalation, and disengagement happen.
Traditional treatment centers create additional barriers: multiple pre-assessment phone calls, in-person paperwork visits, and scheduling bottlenecks that push actual treatment weeks into the future.
A change-initiative project in Los Angeles County found that programs using same-day assessment strategies cut intake wait times from six days to 3.5 days and reduced no-show rates from 43.5% to 24.6%.
Our virtual IOP programs eliminate those delays entirely. Because every step of our admissions process happens remotely through secure video, we serve clients from any location in California without geographic limitations.
Whether you’re in Los Angeles, a rural county with limited local treatment options, or anywhere in between, you connect with licensed professionals the same day you reach out. Our intensive outpatient program helps clients begin building recovery skills within hours, not weeks, of their first contact.
Instead of asking you to rearrange your life around a rigid calendar weeks from now, we build your treatment plan around your reality and get you started today.
Call us or complete our online form. Our admissions team responds immediately during operating hours for a brief initial screening. This first conversation covers your treatment history, current substance use or mental health issues, and what kind of support you need.
Insurances are verified rapidly during same-day IOP intakes; our team confirms your health insurance and insurance coverage within hours, not days, so you know your costs before your assessment begins.
A licensed clinician conducts a comprehensive clinical evaluation via secure video. This assessment covers substance use history, mental health diagnoses (including co-occurring conditions like bipolar disorder, anxiety, and depression), medical needs, and risk factors including self harm. Under Medi-Cal and DMC-ODS guidelines, intake must establish medical necessity before admission, and video assessment is required for establishing new patient relationships.
The same-day IOP intake process typically includes an immediate triage. Patients are assessed by a coordinated team for faster treatment plans. A medical evaluation may be conducted to assess physical health during intake. The intake process may take several hours depending on the complexity of your situation. Same-day IOP intakes usually involve paperwork and consent forms as part of enrollment.
At the end of this step, your personalized treatment plan is established. This care plan determines your therapist match, group placement, session schedule, and the specific evidence based curriculum you’ll follow. If IOP isn’t the right fit, perhaps because you need inpatient treatment, a partial hospitalization program, or emergency evaluation, we provide alternative recommendations and referrals.
Once your assessment and insurance verification are complete, you join group sessions and individual therapy as early as the same day. A treatment plan is established at the end of the intake process, and your first session follows soon afterward.
You gain access to ongoing support, including crisis resources and care navigation, from day one. No waiting for a spot to open. No limbo between assessment and your first therapy groups.
Same-day IOP intakes can prevent worsening conditions by providing immediate care. Same-day intakes eliminate the waiting list barrier for mental health care. Immediate crisis stabilization helps de-escalate acute distress, and same-day assessments fast-track medication management processes for patients.
Same-day enrollment, not just same-day assessment. Some providers advertise same-day assessments but still schedule your first actual session days later. Our model moves from first contact through assessment and into treatment within the same calendar day whenever clinically appropriate.
Evidence based care combined with eastern healing practices. Our approach pairs proven therapies (CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing) with holistic modalities like mindfulness and yoga. Groups in IOP typically include process/support groups and skills training, and we add practices that build coping skills and coping strategies clients carry into long term recovery. This isn’t an either-or approach; it’s integrated dual diagnosis treatment that addresses substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions simultaneously.
Statewide virtual access, including underserved counties. California has rural and underserved areas where local IOP options are scarce or nonexistent. Through our virtual format, clients in Imperial County, Kern County, Lake County, and other remote areas access the same quality of virtual care as someone in Los Angeles. Several competing virtual IOPs restrict coverage to specific counties; our programs serve all of California.
Medi-Cal acceptance. Many competing virtual IOPs exclude Medi-Cal. Iris Healing’s Virtual IOP, Glendora Recovery Center, and Northbound Treatment all exclude Medi-Cal or Medicaid. We accept Medi-Cal alongside other major insurance providers, making intensive therapy accessible to low-income Californians.
Flexible program structure. Choose from 3, 4, or 5-day weekly sessions based on clinical needs and life circumstances. A standard IOP schedule includes 3-hour sessions, 3 to 5 days a week. This flexible format means a working professional, a parent managing family responsibilities, or a student can receive intensive outpatient care without abandoning their obligations.
Adults stepping down from residential treatment who need immediate continuity of care are among the most time-sensitive cases we serve. A gap between completing inpatient care and starting outpatient programs creates vulnerability to relapse. Our same-day intake bridges that gap.
People in crisis requiring more support than weekly therapy but not inpatient hospitalization find a critical middle ground through IOP. Regular outpatient therapy provides one session per week; a partial hospitalization program requires near-daily attendance.
Our intensive outpatient program IOP fills the space between those levels with 9 to 15 hours of treatment weekly, enough structure to stabilize without removing someone from their home environment.
Working professionals who cannot afford extended wait times for treatment enrollment benefit from our evening scheduling options and virtual treatment format. Participants can maintain daily responsibilities while in IOP, and the virtual structure means no commute time added to an already demanding schedule.
California residents in rural or underserved areas with limited local treatment options gain access to peer support, group therapy, individual counseling, medication management, and psychiatric services that may not exist within driving distance.
Participation in IOP can reduce subsequent use of intensive psychiatric services, including emergency department visits. Kaiser Permanente Oakland’s PTSD-focused IOP demonstrated reductions in psychiatric hospitalizations and emergency department visits in the year following IOP compared to the year before.
Those with insurance coverage seeking immediate, affordable addiction and mental health treatment can begin care the same day their coverage is verified. IOP costs range from $4,500 to $10,000 per month, and most health insurance plans cover IOP as behavioral health benefits, keeping out-of-pocket costs minimal for the majority of clients.
We accept Medi-Cal and private plans from insurance providers including Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna. Virtual rehabs that accept insurance remain uncommon in the California virtual IOP space; we prioritize broad insurance accepted policies because cost should not be a barrier to behavioral healthcare.
Most clients have minimal out-of-pocket costs. Our admissions team verifies your insurance during the intake process and provides a clear breakdown of any co-pays or remaining expenses before you begin. Same-day insurance verification is standard, not an exception.
3-Day Program: 12 hours weekly for moderate support needs. Suitable for clients with stable recovery foundations who need structured treatment while managing work or school.
4-Day Program: 15 hours weekly for standard intensive care. Clients receive individual and group therapy sessions weekly, plus family involvement and skill-building workshops.
5-Day Program: 18 hours weekly for maximum support and structure. This level provides intensive support comparable to a partial hospitalization program but in a virtual, outpatient format.
All program levels include individual therapy, group sessions, family therapy, and holistic practices. Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is offered for substance use disorders when clinically indicated. Clients receive weekly sessions with an individual therapist alongside therapy groups that build recovery skills, relapse prevention strategies, and coping skills for daily life.

Most IOPs run for 9 to 12 weeks in duration. IOP programs usually last 4 to 12 weeks depending on progress, and your care plan adjusts based on individual recovery milestones.
If you demonstrate meaningful progress and stability earlier, we work with you to step down to weekly outpatient therapy or standard outpatient care. If you need more time, the program extends accordingly.
Delays in starting treatment correlate with worse outcomes. The LA County data is clear: when intake happens the same day, attendance rates improve and no-show rates drop by nearly half. Every day between deciding to seek help and actually receiving it is a day conditions can worsen.
Same-day intake removes the single largest barrier between you and evidence based care. Call our admissions team or submit our online form for an immediate response. Your initial consultation is confidential and covered by insurance.
If you’re ready to begin your healing journey, don’t wait for a callback next week. Contact Shanti Recovery & Wellness now for a same-day assessment and start receiving the support, treatment, and structure you need today.
Clients who contact us during operating hours can complete their screening, clinical assessment, insurance verification, and first session within the same calendar day. The intake process may take several hours depending on the complexity of your case; same-day IOP intakes provide immediate mental health or substance use assessments, and the process includes triage, clinical evaluation, paperwork, and consent forms. Once those steps finish, you join your first group or individual session. Immediate danger or suicidal intent typically require emergency evaluation instead of IOP; if that applies, we connect you with appropriate crisis resources.
You need a device with a camera and microphone (smartphone, tablet, or computer), a stable internet connection, and a private space where you can participate without interruption. Our platform is HIPAA-compliant and encrypted. We walk you through setup during your intake so technology doesn’t become a barrier to receiving virtual treatment in a supportive environment.
Yes. Evening options are available for IOP sessions to accommodate work schedules, and some of our tracks offer flexible scheduling across time zones, including weekends. IOP offers more structure than traditional outpatient therapy while still allowing you to maintain work, attend school, and manage family commitments. The virtual format eliminates commute time entirely, giving you back hours each week compared to in-person outpatient programs.
The same-day assessment determines your appropriate level of care. Our licensed professionals evaluate whether you need an intensive outpatient program, a partial hospitalization program, weekly outpatient therapy, or a different level of support like inpatient care.
If IOP isn’t the right fit, we provide referrals and recommendations so you still leave with a clear path forward. There’s no obligation to enroll in a program that doesn’t match your clinical needs. You can also gain support through case management and care coordination even if IOP isn’t your starting point.
